How our body fights acid.

When our body becomes acidic, to protect the whole system from breaking down, it will take one of the following measures to deal with the acid.

The most practice it uses to protect the other organs is to retain water and to store the acid in layers of fat around the body to deal with it at a later stage. This gives rise to obesity. Fat therefore protects us from acid. When you are working hard to loose weight and still not able to get the results, you may want to consider alkalizing or detoxifying your body of it’s acid.

The body can also neutralize the acid. For this to happen, it needs calcium bicarbonate, which is made from calcium, an essential mineral depleted from our bones, mainly from the lower spine and hip bone. Thinning of the bones is called osteoporosis, this is often the main reason why many elderly women in particular fall often and damage their hip bone.

When we eat meat, we take the cholesterol  and triglycerides of animal with it, which is acidic. To protect our heart, our body will store these toxins inside our artery walls, which eventually leads to blockages and cardiovascular diseases.

Another defense mechanism, to convert acid into solid crystals. This happens in our organs or joints and this is the main reason for gout, kidney stones, arthritis and cysts.

Last but not least, it could give in to acid. When this happens, the body metabolism rate slows down, this is the rate at which the body converts sugar into energy. This leads to obesity, loss of energy or even diabetes.

Understanding alkalinity.

Our diet today is all about getting by. We fail to realize how our oral intake effects our lives. To be more specific, how it gives rise to diseases. Let me explain.

Our blood has red blood cells, which consist of 3 layers. At the core is the neutron with a neural charge, surrounded by the protons with a positive charge, the layer being the electrons, which has a negative charge. When two cells with the same charge come together, they repel one another. This is the main reason why cells move around freely in our blood.

Acid is simply an oversupply of protons, when these come into contact with electrons in our blood, they steal the cell’s electron. This attack is called oxidative stress, it gives birth to an illness. When two opposite charges come together; they chain together and slug as they flow inside the blood. The environment is said to be oxygen-poor and a breeding ground to micro-organisms. When oxygen goes down, it slows down processes inside the body too, the most important being the rate at which it converts sugar into energy or the metabolism rate.

pH levels are measured from a count of 1-14. 7 is the neutral point, any lower number is acidic; the higher number is alkaline. Our body struggles to maintain it’s natural pH level at 7.36, as any large variation, we would die.

The body works in two ways to deal acid, it either neutralizes the acid or it deposit it to other body parts to deal with it later. To neutralize acid, the body needs more nutrients from our body parts than initial acid intake, say for example if you had soda, your body needs 32 parts alkaline water at pH 10 to neutralize this acid. Alternatively, it could also take an electron from an antioxidant, this molecule is known for it's electron donating features. It is for this reason, high antioxidant and alkaline diet is highly recommended.
